Native Plant Project (“we”, “us”) is run by Austem Foundation Ltd, ABN 20 625 311 766. We respect your privacy and only collect what we need to get great plants to you. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it and what you can do about it.
What we collect
We collect personal information when you:
- place an order (your name, delivery and billing address, email and phone number)
- create an account on our website
- join a waitlist to hear when a plant is back in stock
- sign up for our emails
- enter a competition, including any photos you send us
- contact us by email or through a form on our website
- use the plant advice chat on our website.
We also collect some information automatically when you visit our site, such as your device and browser type, the pages you visit and how you found us. This comes from cookies and similar tools (see “Cookies and analytics” below).
Our plant advice chat
Our website has a chat assistant that helps you choose plants that suit your garden. If you agree at the start of the chat, we may save some of the gardening details you share, such as how much sun or shade you get, your soil type or questions about caring for your plants.
If you go on to place an order, these details are linked to your order. We use them to include personalised care advice with your plants and in follow-up care tips. We don’t use them for advertising.
We only save the details that are useful for care advice, not the whole conversation. Saved chat details are deleted 12 months after your order date. If you’d like them deleted sooner, just email us.
The chat is powered by artificial intelligence tools from third-party providers, who process your messages to generate replies.

Payments
Payments are handled by secure third-party payment providers. Your card details go straight to them and are never seen or stored by us.
Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files saved to your device when you visit a website. We use them to keep your cart and account working, to understand how our site is used and to measure and show relevant ads, including on social media.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site, like the cart and checkout, won’t work properly without them.

Keeping your information safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Our website uses encryption to protect information sent between your browser and our site.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it, or as long as the law requires. For example, order and payment records are kept for at least five years for tax purposes.

If you enter one of our competitions, we use your details to run the competition and contact you. If you win or are shortlisted, we may share your first name, suburb and garden photos on our website and social media. The terms for each competition explain this in more detail.
